If you are searching for a top property with an amazing view or a super-chic living room, Airbnb has done some of the heavy lifting with its yearly roundup of the most wish-listed properties in its portfolio.
These won’t be the cheapest options, but they are residences that make a special trip even more remarkable. Airbnb lists one from each of the 50 U.S. states.
We chose some unique listings in Airbnb’s lineup in different parts of the country. Maybe they will inspire you to swap a regular one-bedroom apartment with a tiny house, luxury treehouse or desert dome on your next domestic jaunt.

You’ll find waterfront homes, city-center condos and wilderness getaways in this part of the country. Some of our favorites, however, are in the middle of nowhere.
1. Stone City Treehouse with Sauna and Stream, Hardwick, Vermont
Elevated within the trees, this modern treehouse is a romantic retreat in the woods. There are indoor and outdoor fireplaces, a kitchenette and living room. It can sleep two people in loft-style beds and comes with access to a lovely forest sauna.
2. Cabin Hygge at Lumen Nature Retreat, Woodstock, New Hampshire

But if Airbnb is your jam, head to Cabin Hygge at Lumen Nature Retreat near Woodstock, New Hampshire. It’s a Nordic-style cabin with enough space to sleep four people comfortably and a bathhouse within walking distance. Halfway between camping and glamping, you can live in the forest comfortably. There’s a fire pit, and you can swim in the lake and use a nearby sauna al fresco.
In the middle of the country, Airbnb has some interesting listings from treehouses and vintage farm buildings to spaces designed by one of America’s most famous architects.
3. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Eppstein House, Galesburg, Michigan

Fans of architecture and design will love this place. As its name suggests, it was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and features many of his signature, mid-century elements. Recently renovated to upgrade the interiors and plumbing, this is a real gem that Travel + Leisure ranked as the most unique in the state. All of its furnishings remain true to Wright’s original style.
4. Unique ‘Earthouse’ Retreat with Spring-Fed Creek, Springfield, Missouri

Built into the surrounding earthen greenery of a suburban neighborhood, this modern home has sleek interiors that can sleep as many as eight people in three bedrooms. It has indoor and outdoor dining areas, a firepit, full kitchen, outdoor barbecue and an open-plan interior.
5. Elkview Lodge, Hermosa, South Dakota

You will be unplugged here: there’s no Wi-Fi. This hut is ideal for stargazers because there’s no light pollution from surrounding buildings. There is an outdoor terrace with a firepit, but no in-house bathroom or kitchen facility. This is a “roughing it” experience without having to sleep in a tent.
The outdoors reigns supreme in the South with floating homes and treehouses among the many options to rent.
6. Robert Bruno Steel House, Ransom Canyon, Texas

Sleep in this unusual structure and take advantage of its curving windows overlooking the surrounding plains. Inside, its three bedrooms and colorful living room almost make it feel like you are sleeping in a spaceship. Expect all the niceties of a private residence like full kitchen and laundry facilities, but here it is the architecture that truly wows.
7. Key West Outpost, Key West, Florida

Dubbed a private conch cottage, this “eco-vacation” travels the waterways around Key West and is supplied with power from solar panels. It sleeps four people in two bedrooms while providing ample fresh air plus an onboard bathroom. This is a great way to enjoy a waterfront accommodation without paying the big bucks, and water sports are always at your doorstep.
Get your cowboy boots or snowshoes and live out your wilderness dreams in the wild, wild west with these Airbnb rental options.
8. Western Saloon, Tetonia, Idaho

You can take in views of the Tetons from this Western Saloon in Tetonia, Idaho, on a 10-acre property in the Teton Valley. Four people can sleep here, although there is only one bedroom and bathroom. A sofa bed adds capacity. Other perks include a whirlpool, pool table and outdoor firepit plus the perfect setting to reenact your favorite old Western flicks.
9. Zion A-Frame, Hillsdale, Utah

Wake up to views of Zion National Park from your own private terrace. One window wall opens to create an indoor-outdoor bedroom, and the rental comes with a whirlpool and access to a sauna.
