World Wrestling Entertainment (NYSE:TKO) has reported that WrestleMania XL, the 40th incarnation of its annual pro wrestling showcase, was the biggest success in its history.
The latest WrestleMania — taking place in Philadelphia and featuring the in-ring return of wrestling veteran (and now highly paid film star) Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson — shattered records for the gate, viewership and merchandise, TKO Group said.
Attendance hit 145,298 over two nights at Lincoln Financial Field, smashing last year’s record by 78%. Viewership also topped a 2023 record by 41% across both nights.
Meanwhile, merchandise sales jumped 20% from last year’s record total, and the event became the most socially viewed WrestleMania ever, with more than 660M views (including a viewing record for WWE’s channel on YouTube: more than 67M views in 24 hours).
TKO stock (TKO) was up 0.8% at midday Tuesday.
