Benefits

Earn up to 75% more cash back on every purchase if you have a business checking account with Bank of America and qualify for Preferred Rewards for Business Platinum Honors tierRedeem your cash rewards as a deposit into your Bank of America checking or savings account, as a card statement credit, or as a check mailed to you0% on purchases for the first 9 billing cycles, after which the standard APR applies

One of the biggest non-rewards benefits you’ll get with the Bank of America Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards card is an introductory 0% APR.

You’ll pay 0% interest on new purchases for the first nine billing cycles after account opening. After that, any remaining balance will take on interest at the your assigned variable APR (currently 17.24% to 27.24%).

Other benefits are limited, but you will get a few perks to help protect your purchases and manage your business spending:

Cash flow management tools. Use Bank of America’s complimentary tools to make automatic payments and transfers to other accounts. Account activity can be downloaded into Quickbooks to reduce manual entry.

Free business credit score. View your business credit score from Dun & Bradstreet for free through the bank’s online dashboard.

Overdraft protection. Link the Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards credit card to your checking account for overdraft protection. This service can avoid declined purchases and returned checks.

Travel accident insurance. When you use your Bank of America business credit card to book travel, you’re covered with $100,000 in travel accident insurance at no charge. That can include everything from emergency ticket replacement to lost luggage assistance, medical referrals while traveling, and more.

The Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards card offers tiered cash back in different spending categories:

The 3% and 2% bonus rewards apply to the first $50,000 in purchases across both categories. You can choose the 3% bonus category that best fits your spending from six different options:

Gas stations and EV charging stations (this category is the default)

Office supply stores

Travel

TV, telecom, and wireless

Computer services

Business consulting services

You may change your choice category once per month; otherwise, the category remains the same.

In addition to 3% rewards, you’ll earn 2% cash back on dining. But remember: The $50,000 annual spending cap applies to your combined spending in both the 3% and 2% categories. All non-category purchases and your purchases after reaching the $50,000 max earn 1% cash back.

Earn more rewards as a new cardholder by earning the cash welcome bonus. You can earn a $300 statement credit when you spend at least $3,000 within the first 90 days of account opening.

If you already bank with Bank of America, you can potentially boost your cash-back rewards even more with Preferred Rewards.

With an eligible Bank of America business checking account and a qualifying balance across all your eligible Bank of America business deposit accounts or Merrill business investment accounts, you can get Preferred Rewards benefits — which include boosted cash-back earnings on the Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards card.

Depending on your balance, you may qualify for a 25%, 50%, or 75% points boost. At the highest tier, that’s equal to up to 5.25% cash back in your choice category, up to 3.5% on dining, and 1.75% on everything else.

To best maximize your Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards card, make sure you choose the 3% category where you spend most each month. Then, consider how your total rewards may vary depending on how you divide your spending between 2% and 3% bonus categories.

Maybe you have several computer service subscriptions for things like software, data processing, or cloud services and max out the $50,000 spending threshold from that category alone. That would give you a total of $1,500 in annual cash back (before any additional 1% cash back earnings).

However, this can change for different business needs. Maybe your business requires frequent client visits, so you select gas stations as your 3% category. But you also use your card on restaurant meals with clients, and your $50,000 each year is split closer to $20,000 in the 3% gas category and $30,000 in your 2% dining category. In this situation, you’d end up with a slightly lower $1,200 in annual rewards across both categories (before additional 1% cash back).

This Bank of America business credit card offers simple redemption options for your cash-back rewards. If you have business bank accounts with Bank of America, you can deposit cash rewards into a checking or savings account. You can also get a statement credit toward your credit card account. Alternatively, you can request that a check be mailed to you so you can deposit it with another bank.

Your cash-back rewards do not expire as long as your credit card is open and in good standing. This means that there’s no rush to make a choice for redeeming rewards. However, there’s no benefit to waiting either. A good strategy is to redeem rewards frequently to reduce debt, boost savings, or use the money to grow your business.

This Bank of America business credit card is best for business owners who want to earn cash back without paying an annual fee. It’s also a great choice for financing an upcoming business expense over the card’s 0% APR period.

But take a closer look at your specific business spending to better determine if the Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards card is right for you:

First, note the $50,000 spending cap for bonus rewards. That’s a large annual sum — over $4,100 per month — but it can be limiting if you have a very large annual budget. On the other hand, an annual spending max rather than a monthly or quarterly cap can give you more flexibility for fluctuating expenses throughout the year.

Also make sure your current business purchases fit within the 3% category options. If your regular expenses don’t fall within any of the eligible categories, or they don’t make up the majority of your spending, you’ll probably find more value elsewhere.

Finally, don’t forget about the perks you’ll gain with Preferred Rewards. This can be a fantastic card choice if you already have a business deposit account with Bank of America or business investment account with Merrill. You’ll significantly increase your annual rewards with up to 75% more cash back (up to 5.25% in your choice category). If you’re a Platinum Honors Preferred Rewards member, for example, and you spend $50,000 annually in the 5.25% choice category, you’d earn as much as $2,625 cash back.

Choose a bonus category. The option to choose your 3% bonus category each month allows you to tailor rewards to your spending, even if your regular expenses change.

Earn up to 75% more cash back. If you have qualifying balances in your Bank of America deposit or Merrill investment accounts, you can earn increased cash back with Preferred Rewards.

No annual fee. There’s no annual fee to own this card.

Free employee cards. Earn rewards on employee purchases without paying extra fees for adding them to your account.

Intro APR offer. Take advantage of this card’s 0% intro APR offer for new purchases, which gives you extra time to pay down a large expense after account opening (variable APR of 17.24% to 27.24% after the first nine billing cycles).

Annual cap on bonus categories. You’ll only earn 3% and 2% cash back on your first combined $50,000 spent across categories. Once you’ve reached that limit, you can earn a max 1% cash back until the limit resets each year.

Only one 3% choice category. Competing credit cards often have multiple, ongoing bonus categories. This Bank of America business credit card only allows one top category choice at a time.

Limited redemption options. While redeeming cash back is simple, it can be more limiting than cards that allow you to book travel with rewards or transfer points to partners for potentially higher value.

No balance transfer promotion. While this card does offer an intro 0% APR for purchases, it doesn’t offer the same benefit for balance transfers.

You can use your Bank of America Business Advantage Customized Cash Rewards anywhere Mastercard is accepted, throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Beware of paying international vendors or traveling internationally with this Bank of America business credit card. You may not have an issue using it for payment, but this card does charge foreign transaction fees. You’ll take on an extra 3% charge for purchases made outside of the U.S.

Pay your Bank of America business credit card using one of the following options:

Online or mobile app. Log into your Bank of America account and select “Bill Pay,” then follow the instructions. You can also set up automatic payments online.

At a financial center. Make your card payment in person at one of Bank of America’s over 3,700 branches.

By phone. Call (888) 306-4949 to make a payment by phone. There are no fees for making payments over the phone.

By mail. Mail payments to Bank of America Business Card, PO Box 15710, Wilmington, DE 19850-5710.

You cannot make Bank of America business credit card payments at an ATM location.
