Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sydney, the lost 1.12% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the were TPG Telecom Ltd (ASX:), which rose 5.93% or 0.28 points to trade at 5.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Polynovo Ltd (ASX:) added 4.50% or 0.10 points to end at 2.32 and Nuix Ltd (ASX:) was up 4.12% or 0.05 points to 1.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Downer Edi Ltd (ASX:), which fell 23.74% or 0.94 points to trade at 3.02 at the close. Clinuvel Pharmaceuticals Ltd (ASX:) declined 14.68% or 3.44 points to end at 19.99 and Appen Ltd (ASX:) was down 14.18% or 0.39 points to 2.36.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 971 to 344 and 361 ended unchanged.
Shares in Downer Edi Ltd (ASX:) fell to 52-week lows; down 23.74% or 0.94 to 3.02.
The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 7.82% to 13.36.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.00% or 0.05 to $1,817.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.34% or 0.26 to hit $76.06 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.34 to trade at $82.48 a barrel.
AUD/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 0.67, while AUD/JPY fell 0.36% to 91.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 105.17.
