Tetra Pak has broken ground on a new facility at its North American headquarters in Denton, Texas, initiating an expansion of its Product Development Center (PDC).
The project is aimed at enhancing support for food and beverage companies seeking to develop and commercialise new products.
The development will see the PDC grow to 12,000ft², with an additional 3,000ft² set aside for a Customer Innovation Center (CIC).
The CIC is intended to facilitate collaborative work and experimental approaches to product creation. Both centres will include adaptable meeting and co-creation spaces.
According to Tetra Pak, the expanded centre will connect local customers with its global resources and technical expertise.
The facility’s design incorporates processing, packaging, formulation, testing and scaling capabilities in one location.
Production capacity will be doubled compared to the current setup, with facilities geared toward rapid prototyping and hands-on development.
The company expects the expansion to add eight jobs locally once operational and anticipates increased customer activity in the area.
Scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027, Tetra Pak’s Denton site is among the company’s 12 product development centres worldwide, equipped for small batch production.
Tetra Pak US and Canada CEO and president Seth Teply said: “Innovation is key to our customers’ success, and today’s groundbreaking represents our continued commitment to helping brands move faster from concept to consumer.
“This investment expands our ability to support customers as they navigate complex product development challenges to avoid costly pitfalls, gain efficiencies and accelerate their path to market, all within a single expert-driven ecosystem.”
Earlier this year, Tetra Pak announced an investment of €60m ($71.2m) in a new pilot site in Lund, Sweden, focused on paper-based barrier technology for beverage cartons.
“Tetra Pak initiates facility expansion at Denton, Texas” was originally created and published by Packaging Gateway, a GlobalData owned brand.
