Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) will expand its artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure in Spain by investing $2.1B over the next two years, said the company’s Vice Chair and President Brad Smith in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
“Our investment is beyond just building data centers, it’s a testament to our 37-year commitment to Spain, its security, and development and digital transformation of its government, businesses, and people,” added Smith.
Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez noted that the investment by Microsoft in the country is going to quadruple and will reach €1.95B. In addition, Spain have analyzed cooperation opportunities to strengthen cybersecurity and promote AI in public administration, added Sánchez, according to a translated post on X.
The tech giant’s announcement comes on the back of a pledge to invest €3.2B ($3.44B) in Germany in the next two years, mostly in AI.
