Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) has rolled out a new feature that will allow users to link their Facebook and Instagram accounts to Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), so that they can buy products directly from promotions on the social media apps.
“Customers will be able to shop Amazon’s (AMZN) Facebook and Instagram ads and check out with Amazon without leaving the social media apps,” said an Amazon spokesperson.
“Customers in the U.S. will see real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimates, and product details on select Amazon product ads in Facebook and Instagram,” they added.
The new feature is expected to boost Meta’s (META) advertising revenue, which had taken a major hit in recent years from Apple’s (AAPL) 2021 iOS privacy changes that impacted targeted ads.
Maurice Rahmey, co-CEO of digital marketing firm Disruptive Digital and ex-Facebook employee, said the new feature will improve targeted ads and “could be a massive revenue opportunity for Meta (META), Amazon (AMZN) and advertisers.” He also likened it to Pinterest’s (PINS) Amazon Ads partnership.
