“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” the latest sequel in the science-fiction saga distributed by 20th Century Fox, this weekend was the top-grossing movie with an estimated $56.5 million at the box office, according to Comscore.
“The Fall Guy,” an action film whose opening weekend was considered disappointing, reaped an estimated $13.7 million for second place. Its total domestic box-office sales reached $49.7 million for Universal.
“Challengers,” a tennis romance distributed by Amazon/MGM, scored an estimated $4.68 million, followed by horror movie “Tarot” at $3.45 million and monster movie “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” rounded out the top five movies at $2.53 million.
