Overnight in the U.S., major US stock indices all moved lower. The small-cap Russell 2000 index was the largest decliner with a tumble of -1.81%. The Dow, S&P, and NASDAQ index or closed lower by about -0.5% to -0.6%. The Dow industrial average -198.79 points or -0.59% at 33402.39; S&P index -23.89 points are -0.58% at 4100.61; and NASDAQ index -63.14 points or -0.52% at 12126.32.
On Tuesday saw the release of the monthly JOLTS figures, which indicated that job openings dropped to 9.931M in February. This was much lower than the 10.4M total that experts had predicted and the first time the figure dropped below the 10M mark since May 2021.
Oil prices rose in early Asian trade on Wednesday on anticipated U.S. crude inventory declines and OPEC+’s latest output cut targets.
Brent crude futures gained 38 cents to $85.32 a barrel at 0021 GMT. West Texas Intermediate U.S. crude was up 33 cents to $81.04 a barrel.
