Qualcomm Stock: Chipmaker Enters AI Data Center Market

Mobile device chipmaker Qualcomm (QCOM) on Monday announced its entry into the market for processors for artificial intelligence data centers. Qualcomm stock jumped on the news.

Qualcomm announced two new AI inference-optimized solutions for data centers: the Qualcomm AI200 and AI250 chip-based accelerator cards and racks. The AI200 rack will be available commercially in 2026, followed in early 2027 by the AI250 rack.

Qualcomm said it is committed to an annual release cadence for new AI data center products.

Saudi Arabia-based Humain is an initial customer for Qualcomm’s AI data center products. Humain is targeting 200 megawatts of Qualcomm AI systems starting in 2026.

“With Qualcomm AI200 and AI250, we’re redefining what’s possible for rack-scale AI inference,” Durga Malladi, senior vice president in the company’s Qualcomm Technologies unit, said in a news release. “These innovative new AI infrastructure solutions empower customers to deploy generative AI at unprecedented TCO (total cost of ownership), while maintaining the flexibility and security modern data centers demand.”

Qualcomm’s AI processors are designed around performance per dollar per watt, the company said.

“Our rich software stack and open ecosystem support make it easier than ever for developers and enterprises to integrate, manage and scale already trained AI models on our optimized AI inference solutions,” Malladi said. “With seamless compatibility for leading AI frameworks and one-click model deployment, Qualcomm AI200 and AI250 are designed for frictionless adoption and rapid innovation.”

The AI data center market today is dominated by systems from Nvidia (NVDA). Other players include Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Broadcom (AVGO).

In morning trades on the stock market today, Qualcomm stock rose more than 18% to 200.62.
