Homeschool Discounts You Might Not Know About (But Totally Should!)
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

If you’ve ever seen me share a fun teacher deal and thought, “Hey! What about homeschoolers?” — you’re not alone. Homeschool moms and dads wear the teacher hat and the parent hat, and you definitely are deserving of helpful discounts just like traditional educators.

There are plenty of homeschool discounts out there if you know where to look. Whether you’re buying books or school supplies, or even planning a field trip, you may be able to save simply by showing proof that you homeschool.

So we’ve put together this list of discounts for homeschoolers, plus tips on how to qualify for them and where to get a homeschool ID card to make things easier.

Do Homeschoolers Get Discounts?

Yes! Many companies honor homeschool teachers the same way they honor traditional teachers. While some discounts are more widely known (like the Target Teacher Discount), others are more low-key or require a little extra effort to qualify.

How to Get Discounts as a Homeschool Mom

To take advantage of homeschool teacher discounts, it’s helpful to have proof of your homeschool status. That usually means having a homeschool ID card or other documentation like:

A letter of intent to homeschool

A homeschool association membership card

A homeschool co-op membership

A printout from your state indicating homeschool registration (if required)

Curriculum order receipts

Not sure where to start? You can create a homeschool ID card for yourself (or your kids) through sites like:

Homeschool Buyers Club

SchoolhouseTeachers.com (membership includes a printable ID)

Homeschool Discounts to Check Out

Whether you’re stocking up on school supplies, upgrading your tech, or planning educational field trips, there are tons of ways to save as a homeschooling family, even if you have to ask for the discount! Here’s a deeper look at where to find homeschool discounts and how to take advantage of them.

1. Target Teacher Discount

Every year, Target offers an annual Teacher Prep Event, giving eligible educators 15% off select school supplies, classroom organization items, and more. This usually happens in July, so it’s worth keeping an eye out each summer.

Homeschool parents can apply as educators through the Target Circle Teacher Verification process. Simply select “homeschool teacher” during registration and upload documentation like your letter of intent to homeschool, your co-op membership, or your homeschool ID card, if prompted. Teachers also qualify for 50% off a Target Circle membership.

2. Michael’s

Michaels has kept their Teacher Discount Program alive and well and they specifically welcome homeschool educators! This is such a great perk, especially if your homeschool style involves a lot of hands-on learning, crafts, and creative projects (and let’s be honest, whose doesn’t?).

Here’s how it works: once you sign up and verify your homeschool status, you’ll get 15% off your entire purchase every single time you shop. And the best part? That discount applies to sale items too, both in-store and online. It’s such an easy way to stretch your homeschool budget further when you’re buying things like art supplies, storage bins, science experiment kits, or even seasonal decorations for your home classroom.

If you’re shopping in-store, you can give the cashier the phone number linked to your Michaels Rewards account to apply the discount. Online, it’s automatically added once you’re logged in.

3. Barnes & Noble Educator Program

If you’ve been homeschooling for a while, you may remember the days when Barnes & Noble offered a generous Educator Discount Program. Homeschool families could sign up and get 20% off books, games, and educational resources just by showing proof of their homeschool status. Unfortunately, that program officially ended in April 2023.

While you can no longer simply walk into Barnes & Noble and use an educator discount at the checkout, there are still some ways to save if you’re buying in larger quantities. Barnes & Noble has shifted their discounts over to institutional and bulk purchasing programs, which means homeschool co-ops or families ordering curriculum and resources in bulk can still take advantage of deals. They now offer something called &Classwork and also have an Institutional Discount Program that’s designed for classroom and group orders.

4. Microsoft Education Store

Need to upgrade your computer or to get software for school? Homeschool families can access deep discounts (sometimes up to 10%) on laptops, tablets, Microsoft Office, and accessories through the Microsoft Education Store.

Sign up with an email and indicate you are a homeschool teacher. You may need to provide documentation later to complete the verification process. It’s a great way to save on tech essentials, especially if you’re managing online classes or digital curriculum.

5. Apple Homeschool Discount

Home educators can participate in Apple’s Education Store discounts, which can provide up to 10% in savings. When shopping online, look for the “graduation cap” symbol indicating that the Education Savings discount is applied to an eligible product, including: Mac, iPad and select accessories, Displays, AppleCare+ (for Mac, iPad, and Display).

6. Adobe Creative Cloud

Creative students and tech-savvy homeschool parents can benefit from Adobe’s Education Discount, which gives eligible students and teachers up to 60% off Creative Cloud apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro.

This is a great option for teens learning graphic design, photography, or video editing as electives. Just head to the Adobe Education Store and register as a homeschool educator. You may be asked to upload supporting documents like a homeschool ID card or registration paperwork.

7. Homeschool Printing Company

Every homeschool mom knows that printing is one of those hidden homeschool costs that adds up quickly, whether it’s curriculum, planning pages, or activity sheets. That’s where Homeschool Printing Company comes in. Simply upload PDFs to their website and they’ll print and ship straight to your door — often for much less than a typical print shop (and sometimes even cheaper than printing at home!). They’ll even laminate, 3-hole-punch, or spiral bind your pages for you, if you’d like!

Homeschool Printing Company is perfect for stretching your budget, especially if you’re reusing digital curriculum for multiple kids. Just keep in mind: there’s often a lead time of a few weeks (especially during back-to-school season), so plan ahead. The savings? Totally worth it.

8. Homeschool Buyers Club

Homeschool Buyers Club is a free website that is a one-stop shop for homeschool families looking for curriculum, online courses, supplemental resources, and more, all at discounted prices.

What you’ll find:

Discounts on curriculum brands like Saxon Math, Rosetta Stone, Explode the Code, and Teaching Textbooks

Group buys on popular tools like Grammarly, IXL, and Homeschool Planet

Deals on digital learning subscriptions and educational games

9. Museums, Zoos, and Science Centers

One of the biggest perks of homeschooling is flexible field trip days, and many places offer homeschool-specific discounts or learning days where homeschooled kids can participate in educational programming!

Ideas to explore:

Local children’s museums or art museums

State and national parks (ask about an educator pass!)

Science and discovery centers

Zoos and aquariums with homeschool days or educator discounts

Planetariums and nature centers

Always ask if they offer a homeschool teacher discount, even if it’s not listed on the website. Some offer educator membership pricing or free admission for one adult during educational visits. Also, check for annual educator passes or reciprocal memberships that can save you money across multiple sites.

10. Office Depot & Staples Teacher Rewards

Both Staples and Office Depot have teacher loyalty programs that offer discounts on school supplies, rewards points, and exclusive coupons. And yes, homeschool educators are often included.

Benefits might include:

10–20% back in rewards

Special teacher appreciation events with free supplies

Early access to school supply deals in the summer

While policies may vary by store, many locations will accept a homeschool ID or letter of intent for verification.

11. Great Wolf Lodge Homeschool Discount

Take a break from the books and enjoy family fun at Great Wolf Lodge! They offer exclusive homeschool discounts on room stays and waterpark admission, available select weekdays during the school year at certain locations. It’s the perfect way to take advantage of the flexibility homeschooling offers — at a fraction of the price!

12. Other Travel Homeschool Discounts

If you’re traveling or live near tourist sites, be sure to check for any homeschool discounts at major tourist attractions. Here are some examples of deals you could enjoy:

Dollywood & Other Pigeon Forge, TN attractions — Homeschool families can enjoy discounts to Dollywood, Wonder Works, and other Pigeon Forge attractions during select dates each year. Dollywood tickets are $41 for K-12 students and $51 for adults, instead of the regular price of $92/adult and $82/child.

Colonial Williamsburg — On select Homeschool Days each year, families can purchase discounted tickets to visit the colonial area and attend special programming that is normally only available to school field trips. Homeschool day tickets are $11/adult and $9/students through age 17, instead of the usual $35 for ages 12+ and $10 for 6-12 year olds.

Legoland Florida and California — On select dates throughout the school year, LEGOLAND Florida gives homeschool groups the discounted rate of $25 per student (in grades K-8) and $35 for adults, instead of the typical daily pass rate of $54 each. LEGOLAND California’s homeschool discount prices vary by date, but are also deeply discounted.

13. Curriculum and Educational Software Discounts

More and more curriculum companies are offering direct discounts to homeschoolers, especially if you join their email list or shop during seasonal sales.

14. Bonus Idea! Find Deals Through Facebook & Curriculum Swap Groups

If you’re looking for even deeper discounts or gently used curriculum, try joining relevant Facebook groups or homeschool curriculum exchange communities. These groups regularly feature:

Flash sales or local listings for used materials

Group buys or shared shipping discounts

Curriculum giveaways or low-cost swaps

To find them, search for terms like “homeschool curriculum swap,”“used homeschool books,” or “homeschool co-op buy/sell” right in Facebook’s Groups section. If you know what curriculum you’d like to purchase, you can also search for a specific group like “Sonlight Curriculum Books.” These pages are goldmines for budget-savvy homeschool families!

Summary

Homeschooling is a labor of love, and it can be expensive! Thankfully, with a little bit of research and the right documentation, you can save money through homeschool discounts and educator perks that make a real difference. If you’re ever unsure whether a homeschool teacher discount applies to you, don’t be afraid to ask! Many companies simply need some kind of verification, and most will gladly extend the offer once they understand you’re an educator too.

Let your savings stretch even further by stacking these discounts with store rewards, clearance finds, and cashback apps like Rakuten or Ibotta.
