Dutch-based Eneve emerges after merger of these 4 energy software firms
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on LInkedIn

Four energy software companies, Energy21, Ecedo, Jules and Gridhub, have merged and will continue under the name Eneve. The merger supports the development of a software platform that enables energy companies to manage the full energy value chain.

The companies combine more than 25 years of experience, over 130 specialists, and offices in the Netherlands, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

Collaboration turns into integration

Eneve was founded in 2025 through the merger of Energy21, Ecedo, Jules, and Gridhub. The company provides a portfolio of software solutions for energy producers, suppliers, balancers, and large consumers.

The four companies have worked together for an extended period. Through the integration of technology, teams, and domain knowledge, Eneve brings together their combined capabilities into a unified software platform designed to support a broad set of operational needs in the energy market.

Eneve supports organisations in the energy sector with technology aimed at process optimisation, operational transparency, and flexibility across the energy value chain. Its software covers functions such as energy purchasing, pricing, portfolio management, contract management, customer communication, consumption analysis, and invoicing.

Michiel Kuiper, CEO of Eneve, says, “Our mission is to make the energy chain manageable and future-proof. The energy market is in a crucial phase of the transition to renewable sources and more market forces. This brings with it price fluctuations, grid congestion and changing regulations. The need for transparency, flexibility and real-time management is therefore growing rapidly.”

“This offers the opportunity to organise the energy chain smarter and more efficiently. Eneve supports energy market players who want to organise themselves for this future flow of energy.”

Currently, Eneve works with over 20 million energy supply points through energy market players in Europe, including AXPO, BASF and Vattenfall.

In the Netherlands, its software is used by energy suppliers including Eneco, Essent, Engie, Mega, Vandebron and Scholt Energie. These companies serve over 7 million households and 3 million business customers.

With such developments, Eneve expects an annual turnover of more than €25M based on current operations.

Ready for the next phase

Teun Levering has already taken the role of Managing Director Software at Eneve, which started in June 2025. He oversees the alignment of Eneve’s software products and leads the company’s expansion into markets including Germany, Belgium, and England.

His background includes work in SaaS, product development, and business operations.

Following the merger of four companies, Eneve now has one combined software portfolio and a broader leadership group. With support from Amsterdam’s Vortex Capital Partners, the company plans to focus on improving oversight, clarity, and stability within the energy sector.

Brief about the four energy software companies

Utrecht-based Energy21 was founded as “GEN” in 1997. The Dutch company focused on wind energy and later developed software for the European energy market. Its EBASE platform offers real-time information on energy production, consumption, and balancing. The company supports producers, suppliers, balancers, and consumers in managing their energy portfolios and making decisions based on data.

Since 2008, Dutch-based Ecedo has provided cloud-based SaaS solutions to energy suppliers in the Netherlands. Its software handles market communication, billing, and customer management, and serves as a central component in the IT systems of its users. Over 20 energy suppliers use Ecedo to process energy consumption data and respond to market changes.

Loughborough, England-based Jules offers SaaS solutions for energy suppliers and their business customers in the Netherlands and the UK. Founded in 2011, the company’s software offers self-service tools that allow business consumers to manage positions, contracts, and forecasts. This supports operations in the energy chain and helps suppliers maintain their market role.

Rotterdam’s Gridhub has provided white-label software solutions for energy suppliers in the Netherlands since 2023. The Dutch company’s software handles order processing, product and tariff management, customer communication, and partner integrations. Through portals, apps, and dashboards, Gridhub supports suppliers in managing customer interactions and internal processes.
